arent we all blind sometimes?

i feel so RS-y today. i went to the thinker (rs/philosophy club) and they were discussing souls. me aand connie were the only people in uniform (not in six form) so it was scary. at girst, we walked past, thinking that it was just some sixth formers talking, then 15 minutes of indecisiveness later, we went in.

pretty cool, although they went off subject and were talking about whether god is existant and whether that matters, or does the belief of god matter most: happiness vs truth, basically. when they finally went back into the issue about the soul, it was pretty interesting. they were saying that if you believe in no soul (materialism) then maybe, your sense of self is just an illusion created by your brain, so all the decisions you are making arent really determining your life beecause in the end you would do the same thing. so, if everyone's lives in this world could be predicted like so, there would be fate and destiny. cool, non?

when we walked out, i was like, "huh."

and connie was like, "i don't like the jump between materialsim and determinism." (yeah, it is a word)

"huh?"

deep things put me into a monosyllabical state. but i get what she is saying; she believes in materialism, but not determinism, which seems to oppose the idea of free will. but its not like we know for sure that we are really very, very, very, advanced robots, so as long as we feel as if we are in control of our lives, is okay. right? back to the happiness vs truth thing.

then, of course, we had RS. or R+P, as they like to be called now: religion and phlisophy. sounds like R&B, or RIP. whatever.
