i'm pretty sure that most lord of the rings fans have heard about the stupid petition floating around right now about how peter jackson should rename "the two towers" because it is disrespectful to the september 11th tragedy.

that is such bull. tolkien wrote the books half a century ago, the 'two towers' mentioned have nada to do with the twin towers. peter jackson is hardly exploiting the tragedy in naming the film after the book. he is keeping as close as possible to the literary classic, so it would be ridiculous to name it something else.

therefore, some intelligent people (yes, they exist) have begun the "Don't Rename The Two Towers" petition. right now they have 288 signitures, nowhere near the masses of 1200 retardos.
