arent we all blind sometimes?
31.01.2003 ~ 7:27 pm

winter bloody wonderland.

guess what time i got home last night. no really. guess.

not 7 pm, not 9 pm, not even 11 pm. nuh uh, too early.

1 am. in the morning. thats why im here typing this at my iMac at 3:10 pm.

it all started in my free last 2 periods yesterday. when it really started snowing, like a a big fat blizzard. were talking snowflakes the size of contact lenses. they filled up the quad in an hour or less. so five mins before the end of the day we left the library.

when we got to the lockers, some other people were let out so we ran outside and hurled big, fat snow balls at each other. my and babs made snow angels. it was so fun. at that particular moment, snow was pretty and good. load of bull.

when me and rachel m ran back in, i practically ran into the headmistress, who i only recognised because of her bright, pink suit because my snow-laden glasses fogged up.

put on your coats and go catch the coach!

sorry, honey. coat on and staying late. for choir. he was gonna cancel it, but no, we still did it: mass in time of war by hadyn. how appropriate. one thing, though, its too happy. sounds like a bunch of hyper choir boys. i dont think haydn ever understood the concept of altos. we were singing top fs. as a rule, i go nowhere near the top of the stave. crazy man.

then when we left, we started throwing snow balls at each other again. then one of the deputy heads (there are many) came an told us to go to the boy school hall.

huh. coaches. never considered the one thing that would become the bane of my existence.

when we got to the hall, everyone i knew was there. they were projecting blackadder onto the screen in the hall. everyone were desperately looking for a phone with signal or network. i, fortunately, was the proud owner of such a phone. i, unfortunately, had to lend it to a million people.

turn out that my chem teacher had kept a whole set of triple science after school cos they missed a lesson cos of a history trip. two of those people were chess and mads. how they hate her now.

also turns out that some of the normal, 4 pm coaches had never come either. they were waiting for an hour in the snow of the coach park. and i thought i was unlucky. hate to think how long those girls from the lower school were waiting (since 3:20 pm).

so were all bored and ravenously hungry. we started rationing food: chess let everyone have a bite of her tracker bar, then we split the oranges and satsumas so everyone had a section. desperate times. when we asked another deputy head (also my french teacher, who i share mutual hate with) if they were gonna give us food, she was all, you can survive 24 hours without food. hello? we could survive camping outside in an igloo in the coach park for a week without food. given what we pay for this school (especially the boy school), i think it has the resources to feed us in an emergency. geez.

then the blackadder tape ran out or something and they played the simpsons. which was full of episodes containing snow and school. the Powers That Be was having a field day. bastards.

at around 8 pm, when ticca, izzie and people on the early coach nearly got home, the food came. i was talking to yvonne on the phone, and whacked my right hand on a chair. this is the same right hand i burnt. now my middle finger is killing me. this is the same finger i triple-paper cut. ill never be able to swear again.

so we got a little plate of chips, a little cup of soup and a mar bar. yay. if i was at home id be on my third cup noodle (or equivalent) by now. hey, at least we got unlimited ketchup.

so i put down my chips and put the mars bar in my bag. so babs, who was there ages ago, poured me a cup of water. the moment she put it down on the table, the announcement came. something about finchley. run!

i took the soup, the plate of chips and powerwalked out with mads. we grabbed at the chips, ketchup everywhere. halfway there, mads soup broke on her, scalding hot soup! she said on the coach. (she is such a chau). when we got there, i pocketed the soup and chucked the plate of ketchup into a bin.

when we got onto the coach, it was, what? 9 pm?

chess was told off and made to chuck her chips. ha. theyre still in that bin. for the first hour of the coach journey mads lamented about those chips, while i ate the chocolate of my mars bar. (i hate mars bars.)

but amy wasnt on the coach. so i made myself go into a major guilt trip cos her mum told us to stick together. i called amy twice until my phone flashed battery low at me. calling yvonne? mauvais ide. i made a big fuss out of it, and meera went and made the people at the coach park call the boy school. so some people went and told amy to get on the coach. she dragged lucy along.

somewhere along the way of waiting for amy, the chinese boy sitting behind me poked my shoulder and asked if i knew mildred.

shyeah! shes my mum!

turns out yexi is this boy my mum tutored for the 11+s. hes now in the second year. its like a big, fat reunion.

then the 1st year chinese girl i mentioned in the carol service comes to the back with us and we start singing. she has a great voice.

everyone, everything. sorta fun actually, but my throat pretty much crapped out on me now. we sang s club 7, backstreet boys, shania twain, steps, the buffy theme, the dawsons theme, the fugees, six pence none the richer, all saints, avril lavigne ... you name it.

on the way, we saw police cars everywhere, and some policemen cleared the cars so we could go. then we saw this old man slip and crack his skull, blood everywhere. pretty dangerous.

apparently, my dad kept slipping off this hill, so these random people helped him push the car around so he could get off the hill, but on the way he scraped into another car. smart.

while we were stuck in traffic, this man knocked on the door, so we took him in. turns out this spanish doctor got stranded. he also knows one of the 6th former's uncle. told you it was a big fat reunion.

oh yeah. and i needed to pee. 3 and a half hours on the coach.

when we got there, the coach couldnt stop at the coach stop because the traffic meant that it wouldnt get there in less than an hour, so we (chess, yexi and i) got of at 12:30 am and walked.

yexi left with his mum and me and chess threw snowballs at a sign, but it didn't work cos the snow was just ice particles and didn't stick. if we succeeded, we would have got mugged like katie holmes on dawson's. so al last my mum and chess parents got there and we walked home. halfway there, my dad pulled up. he was stuck in the same bit of traffic as the coach. so we drove home. and got in at 1 am. and i am so sick of telling this story.

at least a don't have to go to school today. even if school was on, i wouldn't go. stupid. some people had to stay in the headmistress' house. hahaha! ooh, and this 3 day weekend means i get a nice chinese new year holiday!

well, i haven't been online for 2 days so i typed the above really quickly cos i need to do some serious surfing. clex here i come!
