arent we all blind sometimes?

way too much stuff happen to me.

today was school photo day. you tend to forget about how you look when your life i at stake. we had this high steppy, platformy thing to stand on, and since i am waaay short (still taller than some others, though, ahem, ticca) i got to stand on the 3rd row from the top. there are like 11 rows. it was bloody scary. every step is a foot high, their slippery from all the other grassy/muddy shoes which have stepped on it brfore, so v. slippery and you dont wanna hold onto them. then we had to stand there for 45 minutes while all the lower years (plus lower school) risk their lives climbing the bloody thing. there was also wind, which throws you off balance. so we sang. no, really, it was fun. except the hair a mess thing, but hey, i'm alive.

then we sang the french anthem in french. monsieur francais is crazy. he goes on about how all french people are gonna dance in the liberty square (?) now that Jacques 'the crook' Chirac has defeated jean marie 'le monstre' le pen. then he goes on about the importance of the french revolution, rehashing 2nd year history, then we got to hear the french national anthem. 6 times. then we got to sing it. ok, i didnt really, but the tune was catchy, so i hummed it, for quite a long time, and was accused of being a french nationalist. but look at the lyrics. blood is mentioned 3x, so is throat slitting:

L'tendard sanglant est lev
The bloody standard is raised

Egorger vos fils, vos compagnes!
To cut the throats of your sons and partners!
(they didnt use the term 'wives' cos it was considered sexually unequal)

nice.

then, the choral concert happened, as it does. we, the choir, had to sit on stage for the whole of the 1st half, doing nothing, but watching thr 'drama' that is schumann, unfold. basically, the orchestra was already playing badly when someone forgot to come in. this confused everyone else whih resulted in a skipping of several lines of music. heance the repeated wiping of sweat (and was that a tear?) of our conductor. the faure requiem (out bit, had archestra as well) went better, but the audience, which had clapped after only the 1st schumann movement, was reluctant to risk applause, even after we shut the music and held it closed. then they applauded everyone, except the choir. is that a hint?

and now its 1 am and i missed smallville.

<< it gets more and more. >>
